macht van Mubarak over, gevolgd door de moslimbroederschap, die
op haar beurt werd afgetroefd door het leger. Vrijheid, voedsel en sociale
rechtvaardigheid de eisen van de revolutie bleven echter uit.
Vanuit de linies van de revolutionairen beschrijft Wanrooij het leven
van een groep geëngageerde jonge Egyptenaren tegen de achtergrond
van de geschiedenis van het land, de rol van religie en de
economische situatie. Hij laat zien hoe de sfeer steeds grimmiger
werd en de situatie in Caïro uiteindelijk volledig ontspoorde.
