Seit 1970 trägt sogar ein Krater auf der Rückseite des Mondes seinen Namen. Salzburgs Nachholbedarf deckte die Wissenschaft: Seit 1987 fördert der "Christian-Doppler-Fonds" Forschung, seit 1995 trägt das gym an der Lehener Brücke und seit 1996 die Heilanstalt in Lehen den Namen Christian Dopplers.
